I love doing the laundry.
And to answer the question I know you're all asking...no, I'm not crazy.
First of all, laundry is all about organizing, and if you know me at all, you know the way to my heart is through organization. Secondly, I love the quiet time I get. Almost every time I do the laundry, I turn on Pandora or a podcast and get lost in worship or God's word.
Laundry time is quite a sacred time for me. :)
The other day while I was putting the laundry away, a song played on Pandora that I had never heard before. I'm sure some of you have heard of it....Nothing is Wasted by Elevation Worship. To be honest, the song didn't really stick out to me until the three words were sung.
Nothing is wasted.
Immediately I stopped to let those words trickle through my brain. Nothing is wasted.
Lately, I've been praying for some pretty big things. And when you pray for big things, you open the door for big disappointments. That's just how it works. Because sometimes we pray for things we really really really want that aren't what God wants for us. That's when the human part of us throws a big fit and gets all huffy and puffy with God.
But in that moment of doing the laundry, God reminded me that nothing is wasted. Whether or not my prayers are answered in the way I'm hoping for, God's plans aren't wasted. Whether or not things turn out the way I'd like them to, God's plans aren't wasted.
How about a verse to sum it all up? It's a good one (as if there's any other kind...).
Goodness. I just can't wrap my mind completely around the fact that God cares SO much about us. He orders our every single step. He goes before us. He knows every detail of our lives. He has purpose for each of us. Nothing is wasted.
